Randy Owen, a member of the band Alabama, who successfully battled cancer years ago, recently provided an update to his fans about his health and whether the band would embark on future tours. During his attendance at the Country Cares Seminar for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the 73-year-old singer shared his positive health report: “I’m 73 years old. I just had my tests and everything, and everything came back really good… I had my flu shot. So, I’m ready to go.”
At the event, Owen presented the Angels Among Us trophy to the Brothers Osbourne, who won this year. Owen, who has been cancer-free for over a decade, expressed how his own cancer diagnosis was a blessing, allowing him to relate differently to children battling the illness at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As the founder of the Country Cares program in 1989, he has been actively involved in the community.
While Alabama had to cancel some shows in the past due to Randy Owen’s health issues, he is now looking forward to spending more time with fans in 2024. As for future tours, Owen expressed his hope to go on a series of concerts with the band, but the possibility remains uncertain as he is still in the process of recovery: “I just never know. I enjoy every show and thank God I get to do one more show.”
